The Indiana Fever are reportedly considering a familiar face to fill their head coaching vacancy after parting ways with Christie Sides. Sides, hired in 2023, led the Fever to a 20-20 season in 2024, but the organization’s desire to contend has them seeking new leadership. Indiana boasts a promising young core, including Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, positioning them well for future success.
Clark, a standout in her rookie season, averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists, earning Rookie of the Year honors. Although Sides improved the Fever’s record from 13-27 in 2023 to a higher playoff-seed position at No. 6 in 2024, it wasn’t enough to secure her role.
Reports indicate that former Fever player and coach Stephanie White is the leading candidate to replace Sides, according to Annie Costabile. White played for the Fever from 2000 to 2004, then launched her coaching career at Ball State before taking assistant roles with the Chicago Sky and the Fever. Promoted to head coach of the Fever in 2015, she led the team until 2016, later coaching at Vanderbilt and then the Connecticut Sun, where she earned Coach of the Year in 2023 and led the team to two consecutive playoff berths.
