Breaking: Carolina Panthers Officially Part Ways With Another Top Veteran After Rejecting New Contract Offer

The Carolina Panthers have decided to waive safety  from their active roster, according to Darin Gantt of the team’s official website. Yeast, who initially joined the Panthers’ 53-man roster on September 24, was elevated from the practice squad just over a week after being released by the Los Angeles Rams on September 14.

Yeast’s time on Carolina’s roster was limited, as he appeared in just one game, logging seven special teams snaps during Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he did not see any action on defense. In Week 5, he was listed as a healthy scratch for the matchup against the Chicago Bears, indicating that he was not part of the team’s immediate plans for defensive or special teams roles. Despite the potential he showed earlier in his career, Yeast’s short stint with the Panthers was marked by limited opportunities to make an impact on the field.

Now that he is on waivers, other NFL teams will have a chance to claim him. If Yeast clears waivers and remains unclaimed, he may have the option to return to Carolina’s practice squad, where he started before his promotion. This move would allow him to continue developing his skills within the Panthers’ system and serve as a depth option for any future needs on defense or special teams. However, Yeast also has the flexibility to explore other teams if he chooses to pursue additional opportunities across the league.

The decision to waive Yeast is part of the Panthers’ ongoing roster adjustments as they navigate the regular season and seek to optimize their depth chart. Carolina’s defensive and special teams units have undergone several changes this season, and the team appears focused on finding players who can contribute more actively to their immediate needs.

For Yeast, clearing waivers could mean a chance to return to familiar ground on the Panthers’ practice squad, providing him with the opportunity to work his way back up to the active roster. Alternatively, he could seek a fresh start elsewhere if a team in need of safety depth or special teams support decides to pick him up.

This roster move reflects the ongoing fluidity in NFL team lineups, where player roles can shift quickly depending on performance, injuries, and team strategy.
