Breaking: Boston Red Sox Announced The Departure Of Another Star Pitcher

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher  has secured a new three-year contract with the Kansas City Royals, as announced by the team on Sunday. The agreement includes a club option for the 2028 season, potentially extending Wacha’s stay with Kansas City.

While contract details were not fully disclosed, sources indicate the deal is valued at approximately $51 million over three years, with $18 million allocated for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and $14 million for 2027. If the Royals choose to exercise the 2028 option, Wacha’s earnings could reach up to $72 million.

Wacha, who will begin his 13th MLB season in 2025, completed his first year with the Royals in 2023, posting a 13-8 record with a 3.35 ERA over 166 ⅔ innings across 29 starts. His performance contributed to Kansas City’s success, as the Royals’ starting rotation achieved a collective 3.55 ERA, ranking second in MLB last season.

Having spent the first seven years of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals, Wacha later played for the New York Mets, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, and San Diego Padres. He initially joined the Red Sox for the 2022 season, where he earned an impressive 11-2 record with a 3.22 ERA. One highlight of his time in Boston was a complete-game shutout against the Los Angeles Angels in June 2022, marking only the second shutout of his career.

Wacha now re-joins a strong Kansas City rotation that includes Cole Ragans, Seth Lugo, and Brady Singer. The Royals hope his experience and solid performance will further enhance their pitching lineup as they aim for another successful season.
