Latest 49er News: San Francisco 49ers Release Another Top Veteran After Signing Another Super Talented Star To Boost Squad

The San Francisco 49ers made some roster moves Thursday, largely due to improving health along their offensive line. With veteran Jon Feliciano nearing his return, the team released offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen from the practice squad. Additionally, linebacker Jalen Graham was re-signed to the practice squad to maintain depth.

Eiselen, originally an undrafted free agent out of Yale in 2020, had brief stints with the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans, appearing in five games over two seasons. With Feliciano’s anticipated return, Eiselen’s role became expendable.

Feliciano was limited in Wednesday’s practice, but his practice window opened earlier in the week, indicating he’s close to game-ready. Offensive line coach Chris Foerster commented on Feliciano’s versatility, stating, “We’re looking at him as a backup center/guard. We have a true starter in a backup role, which is great depth to have.” Feliciano’s availability strengthens the team’s options in the interior line.

In another move, linebacker Dee Winters returned as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice after a season with various injuries, including a concussion that took him out of Week 9. The 49ers’ decision to bring back Graham is likely precautionary, allowing for more depth and flexibility. Until Dre Greenlaw fully recovers, rookies like Tatum Bethune and veterans such as Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles will help fill in, especially on special teams.

These transactions reflect the 49ers’ approach to bolstering their lineup as they regain health on the offensive front. The team’s decision to adjust roster depth based on player availability shows their focus on maintaining readiness across all units.
