Celtics Release Jay Scrubb from Two-Way Contract The Celtics have made the necessary roster adjustment to accommodate center/forward Nathan Knight’s signing by officially waiving shooting guard Jay Scrubb, as indicated in the NBA transactions log. This move was expected due to Scrubb’s ACL injury, which is anticipated to keep him out for the entire season.
Jay Scrubb, a 23-year-old player standing at 6-foot-5, has primarily held two-way or non-guaranteed contracts during his time in the NBA. He saw action in two games with the Orlando Magic last season and a combined total of 22 games over two years with the LA Clippers before that.
Selected as the 55th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Scrubb joined the Boston Celtics on a two-way contract on July 15.
In the meantime, Nathan Knight has been added to the Celtics’ roster as a center/forward and will share the two-way player designation with shooting guard JD Davison and center Neemias Queta as the team heads into the season.
