Sunderland star Jack Clarke shares what he loves about Tony Mowbray

Following Sunderland’s eighth goal of the season, Jack Clarke praised ‘amazing’ Tony Mowbray.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the Sunderland winger explained why he ‘loves’ playing for the 59-year-old manager.

The 22-year-old scored 21 goals last season and is currently on track to surpass that total this season, having scored eight goals in only 12 games.

While Clarke has been connected with a number of Premier League clubs, including Burnley, Brentford, and Brighton, the winger was eager to express his admiration for Mowbray, thanking him for “giving him the platform.”

“I love playing for the gaffer,” Clarke explained. “He’s been fantastic with me and the other boys.” He allows you to express yourself as a young attacking player, which is all I want to do.

“I believe he identified our squad’s strengths. We spent a lot of time focusing on what we are excellent at and what will help us in different games. Putting the ball in the proper places at the appropriate time.

“I go out there every week and give it my all.” Things come off occasionally, and sometimes they don’t. To experiment and have fun while playing football. He provides you with that stage.”

Mowbray has created an absolute monster in Jack Clarke

Nobody anticipated Tony Mowbray to bring so much happiness to this football club, but he has.

It would have been intriguing to see how we would have managed all of these young players if we had retained Alex Neil or hired another manager, but fans are undoubtedly grateful that the former Middlesbrough manager ended up on Wearside.

Mowbray has drastically altered Jack Clarke and has already given fans a lot to talk about with Jobe Bellingham.

While Clarke appears to be on his way out of Sunderland by next summer, I have complete faith in Kristjaan Speakman and Mowbray to bring in a new, young talent and nurture them to an exceedingly high quality once again.
