Former Rangers winger Václav Černý has reportedly approved a transfer move to Turkish football powerhouse Beşiktaş, signaling what could be a significant career change for the 27-year-old Czech Republic international.
Černý, who spent last season on loan at Rangers, made a considerable impact during his time at Ibrox. Across all competitions, he played 52 matches, finding the back of the net 18 times and delivering nine assists. His performances earned him a strong following among Rangers fans, who admired his direct style, creativity, and knack for decisive contributions in important matches. Despite this, Rangers did not make his loan deal permanent, leading him to return to his parent club, Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, over the summer.
Now, the winger is once again in the spotlight as Turkish outlet Fanatik reports that Černý has given his “green light” to sign for Beşiktaş. This approval clears one major hurdle for the transfer, though financial negotiations remain ongoing. Wolfsburg have reportedly set their asking price at €8 million for the player’s services. While Beşiktaş appear eager to secure the deal, the transfer fee remains the primary stumbling block, as both clubs continue discussions to reach a mutually acceptable figure.
If the deal goes through, Černý would be linking up with Beşiktaş’s current head coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjær — a football legend best known for his time at Manchester United. Playing under Solskjær could represent an exciting new chapter for Černý, offering him the chance to work within a new tactical setup in the competitive Turkish Süper Lig.
This move would also pit Černý against some familiar opposition. Notably, Beşiktaş’s domestic rivals Fenerbahçe would be on his radar, a team against whom Černý has already enjoyed success. While representing Rangers in last season’s Europa League, he scored a memorable goal against the Turkish side, helping to solidify his reputation as a player capable of delivering on big European nights.
For Wolfsburg, parting ways with Černý would bring in a significant transfer fee but also mean losing a versatile and experienced winger who has demonstrated consistent end product. However, given that the player has already expressed his readiness to join Beşiktaş, it seems clear that his future lies away from the Bundesliga.
For Beşiktaş, securing Černý’s signature would be a statement of intent. The Czech international’s track record — combining goal-scoring ability, playmaking skills, and big-match temperament — fits the profile of a player capable of making an immediate impact. His experience in top European competitions and various domestic leagues could prove invaluable in Beşiktaş’s pursuit of domestic glory and success in Europe.
All eyes will now be on the ongoing negotiations between Beşiktaş and Wolfsburg. While the player’s consent is already in place, the financial aspect will ultimately determine whether the deal can be finalized. If both sides find common ground, Černý could soon be wearing the black-and-white stripes of Beşiktaş, ready to take on a new challenge in his already impressive career.
