‘100%’: Callum Wilson now shares his prediction on where Chelsea will finish this season

In the 2022/23 Premier League season, Chelsea had a disappointing performance, ending up in 12th place. Nevertheless, Callum Wilson, the striker for Newcastle United, has expressed optimism for Chelsea’s prospects in the current season and shared his predictions on their final standing during The Footballer’s Football Podcast. At present, Mauricio Pochettino’s team holds the 10th position and has displayed improved performance recently, accumulating seven points from their last three matches. Chelsea’s upcoming match is a west London derby against Brentford, scheduled to take place at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Callum Wilson makes Chelsea prediction

Wilson believes that the Blues will finish no worse than ninth in this season.

The England international stated, “Chelsea will finish in the top half, 100%,” on The Footballer’s Football Podcast. They will rank among the top eight groups. They are simply too good.

 

Eighth place not good enough for Chelsea

Although Chelsea would theoretically be making improvement if they finished in eighth place, they really ought to be performing better given all of the money that has been spent.

The very least Chelsea can hope for is a Europa League spot, and even that is a modest goal for a team of Chelsea’s caliber.

The Blues’ numerous injuries this season have seriously hampered their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. It is frustrating, though, to lose both the home game against Nottingham Forest and the away game against Bournemouth without scoring a goal.

Hopefully the damage is limited, but with a few more poor performances, Chelsea may have to abandon the season and assign the blame to injury.

But excuses really cannot be made for next term. Everyone ought to be fully recovered, and Pochettino would have had a full year to put his football philosophy into practice.

But we haven’t quite reached that stage yet. Chelsea still has plenty of time to move up the Premier League standings and place in the top four or top six because the season is still extremely early.
