Breaking News: Philadelphia 76ers confirm contract extension for another super star and new star now Waived

The Philadelphia 76ers have once again signed Ricky Council IV to a two-way contract while parting ways with Ąžuolas Tubelis, a rookie center from Arizona who didn’t have any preseason appearances. Council had been waived shortly after the team’s final preseason game and was subsequently converted from an Exhibit 10 deal to a two-way contract.

Ricky Council IV, a 22-year-old shooting guard, has returned to his original team. In college, he was known for his explosive athleticism and highlight-reel dunks. However, his three-point shooting struggled during his junior season at Arkansas, with only a 27.0 percent success rate. Council has since been working on improving his shooting form with guidance from Sixers head coach Nick Nurse.

During the Sixers’ media day, Council mentioned that his shooting has significantly improved since the summer league. He has been putting in daily work with player development associate coach Toure’ Murry, Coach Nurse, and assistant coach Rico Hines. Council expressed his excitement for the upcoming season.

After the Sixers’ Blue-White scrimmage on October 14, in which Council made some successful three-pointers, Nurse expressed satisfaction with the rookie’s progress. He commended Council’s development and his ability to understand and execute his role, especially in terms of getting to the rim, rebounding, and taking open shots.

The Sixers now have three two-way players, including Terquavion Smith, Ricky Council IV, and Javonte Smart. All three of them appear ready to play significant roles for the Delaware Blue Coats, the defending G League champions. Council is committed to fulfilling the team’s needs and contributing, even if that means cheering from the bench with the main team. He is focused on helping Delaware win games and secure another championship.
