he Los Angeles Rams faced a significant setback in their recent game against the Dallas Cowboys, losing 43-20 at AT&T Stadium. However, their troubles extend beyond the game itself. Quarterback Matthew Stafford’s status is uncertain due to a UCL sprain in his right thumb. This injury has raised concerns for the team. Additionally, standout rookie receiver Puka Nacua, who has been impressive this season, ranking second in the NFL in targets, receptions, and third in receiving yards, also suffered an injury during the Dallas game. After the match, Nacua and coach Sean McVay discussed the physicality of the Cowboys, which Nacua also exemplified, but he left the game with an injury, making his situation one to watch in the upcoming days.
The Rams will start their practice sessions this week on Wednesday, as mentioned by McVay. Defensive back Cobie Durant is expected to be in a situation similar to Nacua, but there is optimism regarding his status for Sunday’s game. According to McVay, Durant suffered a neck stinger and will likely have limited participation on Wednesday but should be okay.
In addition, the Rams are keeping a close eye on right tackle Rob Havenstein’s calf injury, which prevented him from playing against Dallas. Havenstein’s condition will be monitored day by day during the week of practice. The team is also monitoring the injuries of receiver Austin Trammell, who hurt his hip during a punt return, and punter Ethan Evans, who sprained an ankle on a Cowboys’ punt return.
While much of the focus is on Matthew Stafford, who may be replaced by Brett Rypien, with former Rams signal caller John Wolford potentially returning to a backup role, the progress of special teams players and the other three starters is also crucial for the Rams as they aim to bounce back after two consecutive losses.
The Rams are hoping to have a healthy roster as they prepare to face the Green Bay Packers at 10 a.m. PST on Sunday, inside Lambeau Field.
