Newcastle United is back on the move after their Champions League venture to Dortmund, now shifting their focus to a Premier League visit to Bournemouth. Following a loss in Germany, Eddie Howe, the manager, is guiding his team to face his former club, where he is highly regarded. Bournemouth, currently facing a challenging season, sits 18th in the league with six points under Andoni Iraola’s management.
Despite their struggles, Bournemouth might view the upcoming match against Newcastle as an opportunity to spring a surprise. The Magpies are dealing with numerous player absences, and their squad could face further depletion on Saturday. Bruno Guimaraes is suspended, and there’s uncertainty around Callum Wilson’s availability after he left the field at halftime in the Dortmund defeat.
Newcastle’s squad will be far from full strength, potentially opening the door for an unexpected outcome in the game.
Gary Neville thinks Newcastle will draw with Bournemouth
According to Gary Neville, who made a score prediction for Bournemouth vs. Newcastle in the most recent Stick To Football podcast,
Ian Wright has predicted a 2-0 victory for Newcastle, but Neville believes there will be a draw.
He stated, “It’s been a difficult week for Newcastle.”
“Traveling from Newcastle to Bournemouth takes approximately three days. It won’t be 2-0, in my opinion. Bournemouth will probably score. A tie is a contentious outcome. I’d pick 2-2.
A draw would be disappointing for Newcastle
Even if Newcastle’s roster is now extremely thin, it’s reasonable to argue that a draw against Bournemouth on Saturday would be a disappointing outcome.
Newcastle is away from home following a Champions League match for the fourth consecutive time. They drew 2-2 with Wolves and West Ham in their past two games, so a similar outcome against Bournemouth would be disappointing.
This season, Newcastle’s road performance is lacking. Only once, following a Champions League match, have we triumphed away from St. James’ Park, defeating Sheffield United 8 to 0.
The Toon Army would much prefer a recurrence of that kind of thing, as they hope to see a successful outcome before to yet another international break.
Ian Wright thinks they will get one, but Gary Neville does not.
