At The London Stadium, Forest’s Awoniyi was back in goal. Prior to this game, the Nigerian had not scored since August, but he pounced around half-time to equalize for the Reds.
The athlete has only recently returned to duty following a groin injury, but he is vital to the club. Awoniyi will now be hoping to get back on track on a more consistent basis.
Awoniyi praised for Forest showing
Hodge appears to be a fixture on BBC Radio Nottingham these days. His goal celebrations are always entertaining, and he was particularly thrilled with Awoniyi yesterday.
“That’s what a great center forward does,” he stated live on TV. “A tap-in from six yards out after an excellent move.”
Awoniyi already has four goals for Forest in 2023/24. He’s probably about where he should be considering how many games he’s played, and he’ll be hoping to improve on the 11 he played last season.
Awoniyi integral to Steve Cooper’s fortunes
The Reds must stop squandering points. The Reds had a true Jekyll and Hyde display, and it’s incomprehensible that they didn’t leave the capital with anything to show for their efforts.
For Forest, Awoniyi was in top form. He finished off a move after Morgan Gibbs-White’s attempt was saved, and he’ll be relieved to be back in the goals.
The 26-year-old provides a muscular presence to the team, and the Reds eventually need him fit. Awoniyi will now depart for Nigeria, with Forest hoping that he will return healthy and ready to continue shooting for the Reds.
