The past two years have been turbulent for both the Green Bay Packers and left tackle David Bakhtiari. The Green Bay Packers will be without Bakhtiari for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season. A cartilage problem in his surgically repaired left knee will necessitate a fifth procedure. Bakhtiari’s final game with the Packers may have been their Week One victory over the Chicago Bears.
Bakhtiari’s highly mysterious announcement on X (Twitter) today drove supporters into a frenzy.

With a dead cap hit of just $19 million, Bakhtiari has a cap hit of more than $40 million in 2024. Even if Bakhtiari’s knee does not flare up again, it seems unlikely that the Packers will keep him around after this season.
The former All-Pro left tackle stated that he plans to play in 2024, whether it is with the Packers or another team, in a conversation with reporters.
