Eddie Howe now faces a ‘impossible’ assignment at St. James’ Park. Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe faces a ‘impossible’ assignment during the international break due to one major factor at St. James’ Park, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Howe dealt major blow with yet more injury woes
As the rain poured down at the Vitality Stadium, a dejected Howe saw his former employers humiliate his present squad. A quick-fire Dominic Solanke double earned Bournemouth an improbable victory against Newcastle, the first time they’d beaten the North East team at home in the Premier League era.
As if the result wasn’t awful enough, Howe departed the Vitality Stadium with his head in his hands after more of his key players were injured during the game. The most famous of which was Miguel Almiron, who hobbled off during the first half, becoming the latest significant player to suffer an injury.
Injury timeline makes for bleak Newcastle reading
Almiron is one of only eight Newcastle players on the injured list, and while the South American’s ailment isn’t as severe as others, it has stretched Howe’s squad even more. That’s because, according to the Telegraph, Isak, Harvey Barnes, and Sven Botman are all poised to miss significant periods of time.
Wilson, who has already scored seven goals this season, is said to be sidelined until December at the earliest due to a hamstring injury, while summer signing Barnes would also be considered lucky if he gets to play for Newcastle between now and the end of the year.
Combine that with issues for Dan Burn, Isak, Sean Longstaff, and Fabian Schar, and it’s easy to see why Howe is tearing his hair out at the present situation at St. James’ Park.
Dean Jones update – Newcastle United injuries
In an interview with GIVEMESPORT about the situation in the North East, journalist Jones recognized Newcastle had been dealt a bad hand, but also suggested Magpies fans temper their expectations for the season. Regarding the current injury crisis, the dependable reporter stated:
“I believe the primary focus for this team during the international break should be on rest and recovery rather than tactical adjustments or addressing specific issues. The breakdown of the Newcastle team is primarily due to physical injuries affecting players across various positions, making it challenging to cope. Kieran Trippier is rightly defending the players to the fans, and it’s important to recognize that expecting the team to perform exceptionally well in the Premier League, especially amid an injury crisis, may be unrealistic. The team’s growth over the past year hasn’t been significant enough to warrant such high expectations. Newcastle should use the break to recuperate and hope that key players like Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, and Callum Wilson are ready after the international break. These players bring a unique skill set around the penalty box and can truly make a difference in games.”
