The San Francisco 49ers are being considered as a potential landing spot for Miami Dolphins guard Robert Hunt in the upcoming free agency in 2024, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The 49ers, dealing with injuries at the guard position this season, could benefit from Hunt’s experience and depth in the future. Hunt, with 53 career starts, has been gaining attention in league circles for his performance in Mike McDaniel’s system. ESPN’s Matt Bowen highlighted Hunt’s strengths, making him the 10th-rated overall free agent in 2024.
The 49ers, with a projected $40.23 million in salary cap space in 2024, have the financial flexibility to pursue Hunt. Despite injuries to guards Aaron Banks and Nick Zakelj, the Niners have left tackle Trent Williams back in action, and there’s optimism about Banks returning for the Thanksgiving Day game against the Seattle Seahawks.
