Latest Atlanta Braves news on Injuries, moves and contracts revealed

**November 17: Braves Trade RHP Nick Anderson for Cash Considerations**

Rather than non-tendering RHP Nick Anderson and receiving no compensation, the Braves opted to trade him to the Royals for undisclosed cash considerations. Anderson, who posted a 3.06 ERA in 35 appearances for Atlanta in 2023, missed the season’s second half due to a right shoulder strain, landing on the 60-day injured list in July. With the Braves revamping their bullpen in recent weeks, his future with the team became uncertain.

**November 17: Braves Non-Tender Seven Players**

The Braves chose not to tender contracts to seven players, including left-hander Kolby Allard, right-hander Yonny Chirinos, right-hander Penn Murfee, left-hander Angel Perdomo, right-hander Michael Tonkin, catcher Chadwick Tromp, and infielder Luke Williams. Chirinos was included due to unresolved contractual matters after being designated for assignment three days earlier. All these players are now free agents, leaving the Braves with 30 players on their 40-man roster.

**November 14: RHP Penn Murfee Claimed off Waivers; RHP Yonny Chirinos Designated for Assignment**

The Braves claimed RHP Penn Murfee off waivers from the Mets, who had acquired him from the Mariners on October 31. Murfee, who posted a 2.70 ERA over 80 appearances for Seattle in the past two seasons, underwent Tommy John surgery in June, likely sidelining him for a significant part of the 2024 season. In a corresponding move, the Braves designated RHP Yonny Chirinos for assignment. Chirinos, who had a 9.27 ERA in five starts with Atlanta, was DFA’d following his acquisition from the Rays on July 23.
