Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has provided an injury update in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League clash with Fulham. Santi Bueno, Mario Lemina, and Matt Doherty are all in contention to feature in the Monday match (8 pm kick-off).
However, Pedro Neto will be sidelined for the upcoming game and is expected to be out for ‘weeks,’ with no specific timeline mentioned for his return. Unfortunately, Nathan Fraser, Craig Dawson, and Joe Hodge will also be definite absentees when Wolves travel to Craven Cottage.
Addressing Bueno’s situation, O’Neil mentioned, “(Santi Bueno) hurt his ankle a couple of days before the Tottenham game, which was a blow because we haven’t got loads of center-backs available, especially when we end up with three on the pitch in Dawson, Kilman, and Toti.”
“He’s back in shape; he’s been training with the group for the past few days.” He did not go on international duty since he would have been unable to compete in their matches. He stayed, worked with the physiotherapists, and got himself in shape. I don’t see why he shouldn’t be involved on Monday.” “On international duty, Mario rolled his ankle, but he should be fine.” Matt Doherty has a hamstring injury but will be fine.”
When asked about Pedro Neto, O’Neil stated, “Pedro will not be present on Monday.” He has a little more work to do, so he’ll stay with the physios and fitness staff a little longer.
“It’s difficult to say because there will be tests, check-ups, and scans, and we’ll be guided by how he heals.” He’s recuperating really well, and he’s probably ahead of schedule.
“We’re pleased with the progress he’s made but with the nature of the injury, we need to make sure everything’s ticked off properly before he’s back with the group.”
“Hodge is doing well and back on the grass,” O’Neil noted, “but it (the game) comes a little too quickly for him.”
