Callum Wilson of Newcastle United has been asked about a possible reunion with Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. With the winter transfer window just weeks away, Callum Wilson feels ‘everyone wants to come’ to Newcastle United.
Newcastle have also been linked with a deal for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has slid down the pecking order this season under Mikel Arteta. Following goalie Nick Pope’s likely season-ending shoulder injury against Manchester United on Saturday, transfer rumors have gained traction.
David De Gea, the former goalkeeper for Manchester United, has emerged as a potential goalkeeper option for Newcastle United in the upcoming January transfer window. Callum Wilson, who was previously teammates with Aaron Ramsdale during their time at AFC Bournemouth, was asked about the ongoing transfer rumors surrounding Newcastle.
Wilson expressed optimism about Newcastle as an attractive destination for players at the moment, stating, “Yeah, I’m sure everyone wants to come to Newcastle right now. Because it’s a club to be at really.” He highlighted the team’s good form, participation in the Champions League, and their push in the current season. Additionally, he mentioned upcoming fixtures such as the quarter-finals and the highly anticipated match against Sunderland in January, suggesting a strong appeal for players to join the club.
However, Wilson himself is sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained in the recent 2-0 loss against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. He has missed the team’s last four matches and has not yet resumed training, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming games against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur this week.
In evaluating his fitness, Wilson mentioned, “I’m progressing well, feeling positive about my condition. Physically, I feel in good shape and robust. We’re making strides in our outdoor sessions, edging closer to a return.
“However, the timing of my comeback hinges on the physio’s assessment. The sooner I resume training, the better. I feel a sense of responsibility toward Alex [Isak], as we’ve been supporting each other through our recent injury challenges.
“I’m eager to return promptly to aid him and alleviate some of the workload, considering the high demands placed on the players currently.”
