Done Deal: Houston Texans confirmed to acquire another Top super star off waivers

The Houston Texans have claimed veteran defensive tackle Teair Tart off waivers, following his departure from the Tennessee Titans last week. Tart, who was playing on a $4.3 million restricted free agent (RFA) tender with the Titans, found himself on the waiver wire due to tension with the team, allowing the Texans to add him to their roster.

Teair Tart, 26, initially joined the Titans as an undrafted free agent and had played all 45 of his career games with the franchise. With his release from the Titans, Tart will now have the opportunity to contribute to the Texans’ defensive interior and potentially enhance his market value as he approaches free agency in the offseason.

The Texans, with an 8-6 record, claimed Tart around the middle of the waiver priority, indicating that several other teams opted not to pursue him. Houston remains in the hunt for both the AFC South title and a wild-card berth despite having a mixed performance in total and scoring defense this season.

Tart’s addition to the Texans’ defensive line comes at a time when the team has displayed strength against the run, ranking sixth in the NFL by allowing an average of 93.5 rushing yards per game. In his 2023 season with the Titans, Tart has contributed 21 tackles and one sack, demonstrating his capability as a starting-caliber option on the defensive front.

The move provides Tart an opportunity to make an impact in the late stages of the 2023 season, potentially improving his market value in the upcoming offseason. Simultaneously, the Texans aim to bolster their defensive front as they push for a postseason berth.
