BREAKING NEWS: Mike Trout Significant Update Surfaces As Angels Battle Yankees

The Los Angeles Angels have managed to stabilize their season despite a rough start in 2025 and the continued absence of star outfielder Mike Trout. Injuries have unfortunately become a recurring issue for Trout in recent years, and he’s once again sidelined with a knee problem.

However, there was a promising update on Tuesday regarding his recovery. Trout took a positive step by doing some light running, which is encouraging news for someone dealing with a knee injury, per MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger.

“Mike Trout lightly ran the bases today,” Bollinger shared on X (formerly Twitter). “He’ll also face live pitching in a simulated game setting before tomorrow’s matchup. He still needs to run the bases aggressively—starting, stopping, and cutting—before being cleared.”

While Trout isn’t quite ready to make his return just yet, his recent progress is a strong indication that he’s moving in the right direction. Out since April 30 and limited to just 29 games this season, his eventual return will be a significant boost for the Angels.

Given Trout’s history of lingering injuries that tend to resurface, the Angels are expected to be especially cautious with his return. The team wants to avoid turning a short-term issue into something more serious, so he likely won’t take the field again until he’s fully healthy.

When Trout does come back, he’ll aim to find a better rhythm at the plate than he had before the injury. So far this season, the former MVP is hitting just .179, with nine home runs and 18 RBIs. While the power is still there, his overall production needs to improve if he hopes to return to elite form.

This season also marks a transition for Trout defensively, as the Angels shifted him to right field to ease his physical demands and help preserve his health. Once he’s fully reintegrated into the lineup, his presence could give the Angels the boost they need to mount a serious playoff push in the American League.
