4-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland recently returned to Auburn for an official visit with the football program. After initially visiting Auburn in early April as a former Alabama commit, Cleveland came back for a deeper look at the team and coaching staff.
Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, Cleveland is ranked the No. 18 defensive lineman nationally in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 8 prospect from Alabama.
During his visit, he spent more time with Auburn’s defensive coaches, including defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams and defensive coordinator DJ Durkin. Cleveland said the experience elevated Auburn into his top group of schools, as he believes the program offers strong opportunities for growth and success.
“He’s a great coach; I really like Coach Durkin,” Cleveland told Auburn Rivals. “I think I fit well in his scheme because of how he uses different fronts to help players succeed and make plays. He’s definitely a key factor.”
Cleveland also shared advice he received from Coach King, who explained that being forced to start as a freshman at other schools might stunt development. King emphasized that Cleveland already has the talent but could grow into an unblockable force with the right coaching at Auburn.

Another factor pulling Cleveland toward Auburn is his former high school teammate Jourdin Crawford, currently on Auburn’s defensive line, who has encouraged him to join the Tigers.
Cleveland plans to decide on his commitment by the end of June after official visits to Miami, Texas, Georgia, and Florida.
