St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol is urging fans and the team to remain patient with young outfielder Jordan Walker. Although Walker impressed during his time in the minors and had a promising rookie season, he’s struggled to find consistency at the major league level.
Despite the ups and downs, Marmol remains a strong supporter of Walker.
“There’s a very high ceiling here, which is why patience is key. I really like how he’s approaching his work and where his mindset is at. That’s what gives us confidence that he’s on the right path,” Marmol told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Recently, Walker has shown signs of improvement, swinging the bat with more confidence and putting together some solid performances. On Sunday, he continued his encouraging trend by knocking a single to the outfield against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
This season, Jordan Walker is batting .212 and has recently strung together back-to-back multi-hit games — a promising sign for both him and Cardinals fans.
Supporters of the team are encouraged by the improvement, especially after Walker’s standout rookie year in 2023, when he posted a .276 average and drove in 51 runs.

However, 2024 was a tough season for the young outfielder. His production dipped significantly, as he finished the year with a .201 batting average and only 20 RBIs.
Despite the struggles, signs of life in Walker’s bat this year are giving fans hope that he’s beginning to turn things around.
The Cardinals have had a great month of May
The St. Louis Cardinals have been on a strong run lately. While they haven’t climbed to the top of the National League Central standings just yet, they’ve won seven of their last 10 games and 16 of their last 20 overall.
The Redbirds are only a few games back of the division-leading Chicago Cubs. A key contributor during this stretch has been Jordan Walker, who’s made an impact with some impressive defensive plays. He’s also been heating up at the plate, collecting seven hits in his last 17 at-bats.
On Sunday, the Cardinals capped off a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks with another win, completing a dominant three-game series.
