BREAKING: The Reds Boldly Confirm To Swing Trade For Another Highly Gifted Exciting Young Star

The Cincinnati Reds appear fully committed to competing now. Their decision to rapidly promote top prospect Chase Burns to the majors—rather than easing him in at the minor league level—signals that they’re not holding back. With the trade deadline approaching, the Reds have a chance to reinforce that message by making a bold move or two.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Nicholas Selbe, one potential move could involve trading for Miami Marlins outfielder Jesús Sánchez. Selbe believes Cincinnati could be aggressive enough to pursue Sánchez before the deadline, writing, “Sánchez’s performance hasn’t quite lived up to his promise. He hit 18 home runs and stole 16 bases in 2024, but his current slash line gives him a 99 wRC+. Still, with elite bat speed and a powerful 6-foot-4, 222-pound frame, there’s untapped potential. He could be a great fit for a team in search of a seasoned yet still-developing hitter.” Sánchez is under club control through the 2027 season.

The Reds could benefit from adding a controllable bat, even if a left-handed hitting outfielder isn’t their top need. Sánchez would represent a notable upgrade, especially given that Cincinnati has used players like Connor Joe and Garrett Hampson in the outfield this year. A move like this wouldn’t just strengthen the roster—it would energize the fan base. With several affordable years left on his contract, Sánchez would offer more long-term value than a short-term rental.

If the Reds can help unlock his potential, he has the tools to become a consistent 20-home run, 20-steal threat in the future.
