LOUISVILLE, Ky. — May 30, 2025 — In a major coup for its basketball program, the University of Louisville has secured a commitment from one of Europe’s most exciting young prospects. Greek sensation Vangelis Zougris, a 6-foot-9 forward known for his elite footwork, defensive versatility, and high basketball IQ, has officially pledged to join the Cardinals for the 2025-26 season.
The commitment marks a significant international recruiting victory for head coach Pat Kelsey, who has aggressively pursued overseas talent since taking the reins at Louisville. Zougris, just 18 years old, has already played professionally in Greece’s second division and has represented his country at the U18 and U20 levels with impressive performances in FIBA competition.
